VOX was proud to participate in the historic Women’s March Los Angeles as an affirmation of our mission to “give women voice.” As part of a national movement on January 21, 2017, VOX Femina performed at the “Sister March” to the Women’s March in Washington DC. Although it began as a national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for women’s rights, human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all, the an estimated 2 million people demonstrated in cities all over the world.
“Keep on walking forward
Keep on singing loudly
Keep on loving boldly
Lift each other higher
Work for change together
Keep on walking forward…”
That was the message VOX as performed for 750,000 women, men, and families who gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. Almost every member of the choir joined Artistic Director Dr. Iris Levine on stage as the pre-march rally in Pershing Square was just beginning. The one-day protest was one of the largest in US history.
Following the performance, VOX continued to lead the crowd in song as the march from Pershing Square to City Hall began.
